The Market – Opening April

Introducing The Market: The Salem Pantry’s first brick-and-mortar location.

For years, The Salem Pantry has brought food directly into the community, operating multiple pop-up pantries throughout Salem. In April 2023, we will add our first brick-and-mortar location to our list of programs.

What is The Market?

The Market, which will open five days a week, including weekend and evening hours, will serve as The Salem Pantry’s main distribution point, providing pantry guests with a consistent location for convenient, no-cost shopping.

The Market will aim to provide a grocery store-like, dignified shopping experience where guests can shop from the range of dairy, fresh produce, nonperishables, and protein options we pride ourselves in providing.

How will this affect The Salem Pantry’s other programs?

The Salem Pantry will continue to operate its longstanding mobile distribution program. This program provides reliable food access for students, residents, and clients in partnership with community partners.

What else can I expect from The Market?

The Market will serve as more than a pantry, providing community and health resources outside of food. The Salem Pantry will also partner with The Salem Skipper and The Salem Council on Aging to offer transportation options to The Market.

The Market is another way we seek to nourish our community.

The Market will open in mid-April 2023. This project is in partnership with The North Shore Community Development Coalition and will be housed on the ground floor of The Lighthouse building at 47 Leavitt Street.
