The Salem Pantry and Whole Foods Market Host Free Mobile Market for 500 Families
Salem, MA (October 7, 2024) – As part of Whole Foods Market’s Nourishing Our Neighbors initiative, The Salem Pantry and Whole Foods Market hosted a free Mobile Market, providing food for 500 families in Salem.
“Whole Foods Market is a key partner in supporting food security in Salem and The North Shore,” states Robyn Burns, The Salem Pantry’s Executive Director. “We are thrilled to be chosen as one of six organizations throughout the country to hold this special Mobile Market today.”
Held at Salem State University’s O’Keefe Center, families had the opportunity to select fresh produce and shelf-stable items from a farmer’s market-style setup, all at no cost. Team Members from The Salem Pantry and Whole Foods Market in Swampscott, Beverly, and Lynnfield supported the event.
Whole Foods Market’s Nourishing Our Neighborhoods is a nationwide program aimed at expanding the capacity and capability for community-based food rescue organizations. The Salem Pantry was selected, highlighting its impact in the community.

The Salem Pantry regularly works with Whole Foods Market through its Grocery Rescue Program, which donates a wide range of rescued food to the pantry each week.
