The Salem Pantry elects Rebecca Babbitt Chafe, Nate Bryant and Sarah Morrill to its Board of Directors.
Salem, MA (April 30, 2024) – The Salem Pantry recently elected three new members to its Board of Directors. Rebecca Babbitt Chafe, Nate Bryant, and Sarah Morrill join the organization dedicated to providing convenient and reliable access to fresh, healthy food in Salem and neighboring communities.
“We are thrilled to have Rebecca, Nate, and Sarah joining our board…” stated Executive Director Robyn Burns. “They are each strong community advocates and have each played important support roles for The Salem Pantry over the years.”
In 2023, The Salem Pantry supported over 6,500 families from 20 cities and towns, distributing over 2 million pounds of food through their brick-and-mortar location, mobile pantries, and home delivery program.
Rebecca Babbitt Chafe
Rebecca Babbitt Chafe comes to The Salem Pantry Board of Governors with over 20 years of experience in financial services, including roles at MetLife, John Hancock, and Harbor Capital Advisors. In her current role as the Head of Business Controls-Americas for State Street Global Institutional Group, Babbitt Chafe leads a global team responsible for identifying and mitigating risk and ensuring efficient and effective application of policies, procedures, and Controls. Babbitt Chafe is a graduate of Gettysburg College and received her master’s degree in business administration from Simmons College.
“Having volunteered with the Salem Pantry for several years, I’m thrilled to join the Board of Directors. I’ve seen first-hand the impact reliable access to healthy food can have in our communities. I look forward to applying my professional experience in risk mitigation and compliance to support the continued growth of this dynamic organization.”
Nate Bryant
Nate Bryant has over 30 years of leadership experience at Salem State University, most recently as Vice President of Student Success. Bryant oversaw various departments at the university, including marketing and communications, student life, enrollment management, and undergraduate admissions. Bryant received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Salem State, his master’s in education from Salem State, and his doctorate in higher education from the University of Massachusetts – Boston.
“In my role as vice president at Salem State University, I had the good fortune to partner with the Salem Pantry and witness firsthand the great work they were doing to support our students. As a Salem resident, I am excited to continue that relationship as a board member, which will allow me to deepen my relationship and support individuals and families in greater Salem and beyond.
Sarah Morrill
Sarah Morrill has over 14 years of non-profit leadership experience with Plummer Youth Promise, including her roles as Director of Strategy and Evaluation, Director of Outcomes and Evaluation, consultant, and board member. Morill leads Plummer’s strategic planning processes and ensures measured organizational growth and impact on the youth they serve. Morrill received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Boston College and earned her Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University.
